More PDP members will be arrested if... - Oshiomhole

– Governor Oshiomhole has threatened to deal with PDP members who continue to go against the law

 – He said any PDP member who flouts the law under his administration would be prosecuted as no one is above the law

– The governor said it was ridiculous for PDP chieftains to boast that nothing would happen if they broke the law

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has said more members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would be arrested and prosecuted if they continue to go against the law. He said under his administration, nobody is exempted from prosecution, The Nation reports.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state said more erring PDP members will be arrested.
The governor said this on Wednesday, August 24, at a meeting with youths from Ovia North East local government area who were at the state government house to endorse the candidacy of Godwin Obaseki as the All Progress Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in next month’s governorship election in the state.
Oshiomhole, who was responding to threats by the PDP in the state to carry out mass protest over the arrest of 13 of its members, said no one has the right to behave like an emperor.

He said: “You need courage to put an end to exemption. As long as I am here, there is no exemption for anyone. Nobody has the right to behave like an emperor. We were carrying poles to extend electricity to some villages but they (PDP) arranged some boys to block the vehicle.

They forced the driver to stop, attacked one of our commissioners and said nothing will happen?” “Nothing will happen when you break the law, caused obstruction and prevent a community from getting development? That is waging war against a community and we needed to demonstrate that Edo State is not a banana republic.

They arrange all manner of people to the highway when they will not send their children to the highway.” The governor said it was ridiculous for the PDP chieftains to boast that nothing would happen after they broke the law and attacked a member of his cabinet.

According to him, the PDP members that were arrested have been charged to court and will be remanded in prison according to law to show that the state was not a banana republic. “I want to see how their pay masters will get them bail. We need to show that Edo is not under one man rule. If they repeat it again, we will charge them again,” he said. The Edo state governorship election is billed for September 10. A week ago, Oshiomhole alleged that the PDP was planning to import thugs from other states into Edo state for the election. Ahead of the election, 700 members of the APC defected to the PDP in Ovia North East local government area of the state on Wednesday, August 3.
