THE traditional ruler of Ogwa kingdom, in Esan West Local Government Area, HRH Victor Ehiozogie, yesterday, declared that the state does not need a politician as governor but a technocrat such as Godwin Obaseki of the APC.
Speaking when Obaseki visited his palace, the monarch argued: “Look at Governor Oshiomhole, was he a politician? No! But you see how he has changed Edo State and that is why I am not always comfortable when people refer to some persons that they are not politicians, meanwhile some politicians are not sincere.
” The monarch stressed that the state needs a technocrat at this point and not a politician due to the current economic crisis, and the crash of the price of oil in the international market. While urging Obaseki to ensure that he fulfils his electoral promises, he said: “Like I told some people, Edo State doesn’t need a politician as a governor. Edo State needs a technocrat as a governor and that person is you.
If you look at the states that are working they are manned by technocrats. Speaking on Oshiomhole’s achievements, the monarch said: “If I am to score Oshiomhole government, I will probably score him 85 per cent. The outgoing governor, Comrade Oshiomhole has done quite a lot.
You are already the governor in waiting with your deputy. By the grace of God, we will all join in the victory party after September 10.”
